As many of you know I’ve been dating Hannes for almost 2 years now, and it’s been quite the adventure doing long distance. We met at Camp and knew each other for about 7 weeks when he left to travel and head back home to Sweden. Ever since it has been lots of traveling back and forth between Europe and the U.S., lots of facetime dates, snail mail, and what seems like endless amounts of countdowns.
Last semester, I was lucky enough to be studying abroad in Paris, France while Hannes was playing basketball professionally in Bergamo, Italy and we had so many amazing opportunities to spend weekends together and travel. We got to talking and with me graduating in August, it just seemed like the perfect opportunity to pack up and move in together.
About 2 months ago, we submitted the first step in my application for temporary residency and we are now impatiently awaiting the next steps. Although it might be a little while, I am excited to be able to spend the time with friends and family who will make moving away the hardest thing ever!! With that being said, all of you better start saving up to come visit because I’m not so sure what the language barrier will do to my confidence.
Although I’m not completely sure what I’ve just signed myself up for, especially seeing as how I can hardly handle the Texas winters, I am so excited to get completely out of my comfort zone, learn a new language (hopefully), experience Hannes’s culture, and continuously make him do things for me because I moved to Sweden for him. I would say that’s a joke, but we all know I’ll be using that until it no longer gets me what I want… oops. I promise to try and keep you guys up to date as much as possible and be as honest about it along the way!! Can’t wait to be in a place where I can take beautiful pics like this as much as I want :))
OMG moving abroad sounds so exciting and scary all at once. You’re going to have such a wonderful adventure!
