2018 has been a year for the books, but with the new year here, I thought it was only fitting that I share some of my tops goals for 2019.
2019 Goals:
#1 Spend less money on things & more money on memories. As much as I love shopping I also know that I am extremely blessed and have everything I could ever need and more. So I really want to focus on going to places I’ve never been before and planning fun day to day things that I normally would overlook. I’ve realized that I gain so much more from trips and fun day dates than I do from buying another pair of jeans to add to my already overflowing collection.
#2 Focus more on my relationships and make celebrating my friends’ successes a huge priority. If 2018 has taught me anything its how much I value “my people”. Which means now that I know the value of these relationships I need to find new ways to show these people how much they mean to me. Although there is not enough time in the world for me to be able to hangout, FaceTime, and keep in touch with everyone I am still hopeful that any improvement in this will make a big difference. Therefore, if you are one of these people know that I will answer any FaceTime or call and if I don’t I promise to return it, know that I myself will be FaceTiming you way more frequently and know that I appreciate your friendship more than you could ever know.
#3 Get out of my comfort zone as much as possible. Between studying abroad, graduating, and trying to move to Sweden I have learned the importance of avoiding my comfort zone. I know that every new situation allows me to grow in who I am, in what my morals are, and in basically all aspects of my life. I am committing to putting myself in more uncomfortable situations not just in big decisions but also on a daily basis.
#4 Prioritizing commitments to myself. Recently I read the book Girl, Wash Your Face and Rachel Hollis does an amazing job of pointing out that we do not take commitments to ourselves seriously. Reflecting on my own life when I make a promise to someone I make it my top priority to follow through for them and finish the job. Yet, when I make a goal for myself I tend to put that at the bottom of my to-do list. My goal for this year is to really focus on balancing the two rather than choosing one over the other.
#5 Learn Swedish. Although I did start this in 2018 I am really hoping that with my move to Sweden being this year that I will be able to get much more comfortable in the language. I look forward to being able to speak 3 languages and hopefully grow that number in the future.
So thankful to have started my year waking up at 5 AM to fly above the clouds! Arizona recap coming soon :))
