Hi Friends,
As many of you know I LOVE having my nails done. There’s a lot of reasons for that, one being that I just feel so much more put together when my nails are painted, but also because all my life I have had the horrible habit of biting my nails. About a year ago I started getting dip done and I have been doing it on and off ever since. I love doing it because it lasts at least 2 weeks, it’s not as damaging to your nails as gel or acrylic, and it has vitamins in the powder. However, because I did bite my nails before, they’ve never really been strong. So, when I started growing them out I realized just how weak they really were and decided that I wanted to take a break from getting them done in hopes of strengthening them.
I want this process to be as quick as possible, because as I said the longer my nails are naked – the messier my life feels. So I thought I’d share some of the products that I am currently using and loving in the process of getting long, strong nails back:
- Nail Therapy Multivitamin Nail Treatment – This nail treatment is kind of like a sheet mask but for your fingertips. I love them because it’s a great way to get vitamins on your nails that will instantly strengthen and repair your nails, but the one downfall is that your fingers are covered for at least 30 minutes. With that being said, I use them right before bed and I either watch tv or sit on my phone and it isn’t a problem at all. I would definitely recommend this especially if you have time to do it once or twice a week. These are perfect for chill days when you’re just relaxing at home. If online shopping isn’t your style or you aren’t a big Amazon person, this treatment can also be found at Anthropologie!
- Nailtiques After Artificial’s Treatment – I really only recommend this if you buy it before you start wearing your nails naturally again. It works best when using it right after you’ve gotten your gel/dip/acrylics off & then using it for several days after that. It comes with Formula A and Formula B which are both clear coats, you use A the first few days and then you move on to B. It also comes with the cuticle and skin gel that can be used at any time.
- Nailtiques Formula 1, Formula 2, and Formula 2 plus are also all great options if you aren’t interested in a kit. These are all clear coats that you can wear by themselves or under a color coat. I personally tried to apply a new coat at least every 2-3 days, and I always put it on right before bed because it dries super quickly. A lot of Nailtiques’ products can also be found at Target!
- FINALLY, the product that I will recommend to anybody with damaged or weak nails is… drum roll please… Gena Healthy Hoof Intensive Protein Treatment. I use this every night before bed by putting a little on top and under each nail. I also sometimes put it on in the morning and I will continue to use it once I start using dip again. This is the one product I’ve used consistently every night for the last month and my nails have improved drastically.
I’d love to hear if you have any of your own tips & tricks to growing out your nails, and I would especially love to hear your thoughts if you try any of these out!!
